7 ways to keep your child’s immune system healthy

Increasing fruits and vegetables, doing sports, avoiding smoke-free environments, injecting vaccines, etc. contribute to helping children have a healthy immune system.

Most babies are born with weak immune systems. Over time, children will strengthen their immunity by fighting germs, viruses and other organisms in the environment. According to  Parent  (USA), some adjustment strategies in life such as eating more vegetables, getting enough sleep, washing hands often can contribute to boosting a child's immune system.
Eat more fruits and vegetables: Colored fruits and vegetables, such as carrots, green beans, oranges, strawberries... are colored vegetables containing carotenoids, phytonutrients. The phytonutrients help boost the body's production of infection-fighting white blood cells and virus-fighting interferon. A diet rich in phytonutrients also helps the body fight chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease in adulthood.

Increase sleep: Lack of sleep reduces natural killer cells, bacteria have the opportunity to attack the immune system, making you more susceptible to illness.

Children who are more active, take less naps, and sleep less than 10 hours a day are more likely to get sick. You can boost your child's immune system by getting enough sleep. Newborns may need up to 16 hours a day, toddlers should have 11-14 hours of sleep, and preschoolers need 10-13 hours.
Milk supplement:  If you are an infant or child under 2 years of age, breast milk is the ideal source of immunity-boosting food. Antibodies in breast milk help protect babies against infections, allergies, diarrhea, pneumonia, meningitis, urinary tract infections, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Studies also show that breast milk can boost a baby's brain power and help protect them against insulin-dependent diabetes, Crohn's disease, colitis and some forms of cancer later in life living. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that parents exclusively breastfeed their babies for the first 6 months of life to supplement the baby's immunity.
For older children, parents strengthen their children's immune system by giving them formula milk and fruit juices every day.

Exercise: Exercise increases the number of natural killer cells in both adults and children. In order for your child to have a lifelong exercise routine, you must set a good example. In addition to running, you can let your children learn more sports such as cycling, walking, swimming, playing basketball, soccer...
